Buh Bye Jeep!
I am happy today.
No... make that elated!
What started off as an absolute shithole of a day, because some scam company sent called TWX*AOL Qstore charged my card an authorizing charge of $1.00, turned into a rather pleasant if not slightly sad but happy day. I did a little Google Research and found some scary stories about the whole scam thingy, but mostly the answers I had been looking for and it was as I had feared.... major ass pain of rearranging my banking information lay ahead of me. Did some phone calling and found out that it is a scam to test the account to see if they can charge on it, they start out with $1.00 then they go in and ring through a ton of other charges until you are out of credit limit or out of money. Yay! *sarcasm*
So this big crock of shit greeted me at 7:14am and I dealt with the frustrations and the preparations of being cardless for 14 days while a new cards get printed up. Joy.
But all is not lost today, or so it would seem.
I was stressing out pretty bad, money sucks and makes me stress bad sometimes. And I get a phone call from a guy who said he would be coming out to have a look at the Jeep... you remember the same car from the Midnight Golf episode. Well, the first week I put it up for sale I got three calls and three no-shows to come look at the car. So I rambled my arse back to Craigslist and renewed my listing, this time including answers to all the burning questions that I had received from the previous callers. Well, within 3 hours I got 3 phone calls once again.
Woooohooo!
So I set up appointments and lined them all up starting at 11 am then 2pm then 4pm. The guy coming at 4pm was one of the previous no-show callers from the previous week. He kept trying to offer me half of what I was asking... jerk.
So the 11am and 2pm, both of those guys sounded like nice guys. One was a guy who has a little sporty car and wanted a beater to drive around so he was not putting miles on his car. The other was an older guy who was just looking for a run-around car for work and he is an at-home mechanic so he was not concerned with little flaws.
Well 11am showed up, on time even. He was pleasant, the Jeep started right up for him and we took it for a spin so he could get a feel for the clutch. He was impressed. He said that it was way nicer than he was expecting, even given the fact that the back window was non-existant. He sent his friend home and I knew that the great white Jeep had found a new owner, and I was happy. This guy seemed like he needed it, he liked it and he was already talking about taking it camping and having fun with it. All problems aside with the Jeep I wanted it to go to a good home... yeah weird it is a machine, but I've suffered with that vehicle and had some fun in it too. We've bonded, and as I watched it drive off while I clutched my phat wad of sweet cash, I waved to it and muttered
"Buh Bye, Jeep"
