Harry Potter... My Predictions
I love it. I must admit that I fought tooth and nail to not be one of those millions of people who seemed absorbed in this owl faced magical brat.
I took my niece to the Harry Potter movies, because she loved the books and really wanted to see the movies. I had to guiltily admit to myself that the movies were good and the ongoing story seemed like it was good as well.
It was not until Ras came into my life that I actually ever picked up a Harry Potter book and read. One day I was bored as hell and he shoved the book at me, convincingly telling me that he thought I would enjoy it.
So I sat down to read.
And I read and read and read.
I devoured the book in a matter of a few days, staying up until 4 or 5 am just reading. I could not put it down. All that fighting to resist being sucked into the Harry Potter world was for naught, and now I must admit that I am a fan of the story.
I finished up The Half Blood Prince and I found myself saddened because I was having such a good time reading and now it had come to an end. With the promise of a new book coming up this summer, I started getting excited and I started coming up with my own theories about the demise or future of Mr Potter.
I sat down with Ras and we talked about what we thought might or might not happen. I know... weird conversation topic for two grown up adults to be having, but that's what geek couples do. He listened to what I had to say, and he said I should blog it before the book comes out.
Okay... so for those who don't like potential spoiler type theories... stop reading now. I'm not even going to say that my theory on this is right... it's just a theory. I know there are some people who don't like to venture to guess about stories and sequels. They like the surprise in the pages.... me I like it too, and no matter what it turns out to be I'm gonna be all engrossed and devouring it madly, but I just can't help myself in thinking about ways it could turn out.
So again... if you don't want to talk about the potential of what may or may not happen in the last Harry Potter book... then stop reading. For those of you who want to talk about it... well then I invite you to jump on in :)
Okay, so I'm just going to get to the meat of it right away, without beating around the bush. I think Harry Potter WILL die in the last book. I think that he must. He has to for there to be an ending to saga.
This is going to come out in a somewhat random and slightly scatter brained fashion, as I have not sat down to actually write this out, so bear with me. Hopefully, it will make some sense to those who have read the books.
Now with that out of the way, I'll give you my messed up thinking of how I think it might come about. The actual demise I am uncertain, but I am sure that it will be a selfless sacrifice for those he loves. Harry will go down a Hero, that much I am sure of.
You have to kind of go way back, to when Harry got his mark from Voldemort. Just so you know I am feeling extremely dorky right now discussing this on a damn blog, but I digress. I don't think that Voldemort was trying to kill Harry Potter. I think he was trying to do something to him even more nefarious than simply killing him off. Harry's Parents got in Voldemort's way, because they opposed this bad thing that Voldemort wanted to use their son for, and in the end it cost them their lives. I think that Voldemort actually succeeded in carrying out his plans despite Harry's Parents attempt to save him.
No one else was there (that we know of) that was witness to Harry being struck by the killing curse. I think that everyone assumed that Harry lived and bore the scar as proof. I think the scar is something else entirely.
Let's leave what I think the scar is alone for a moment and move back to when Dumbledore is telling Harry about Voldemort dividing his soul up, to preserve himself, he could put those piece of his soul into things and those things were called Horcruxes. All these divisions of his soul were encased inside of objects, such as the diary, the amulet and there is the mention of some artifacts from each of the heads of the wizarding house of Hogwart's (Tom Riddle went around "collecting" these things at one point).
Now we get back to Harry's scar. What I am thinking is that Harry Potter is actually one of these Horcruxes and the scar is the mark left behind from the "procedure". A vessle for a piece of Voldemort's soul to be reclaimed later. There are too many things that point to Harry having a connection to Voldemort, which I think is far deeper than a mere baby surviving a curse and getting a scar. Harry can feel Voldemort's emotions, he sees visions, the wand connection they both have, the snake talking talent and let's go back to the sorting hat... it could not figure out where to place him, which I now think was because it could sense that Slitherin piece of Voldemort inside of Harry.
Anyway, I think that Harry will come to realize this, his friends will probably come under some sort of peril where he will have to make the choice and he will sacrifice himself and when he dies the last bit of Voldemort will die with him. I'm sure that we will see his parents reappear and probably Dumbledore and Sirius too, in the end. But for Harry I think he will have his own happy ending being reunited after his sacrifice with his parents, Sirius and Dumbledore.
So yeah... that's my spin or prediction on how I think it might come together, scatterbrained as it is :)
And for those who are not Harry Potter fans... I'm sorry for the geeky dull posting :) I promise I'll make it up to you with Part III of the Poo Story later ;)
