What's the best music documentary or concert film you've seen?
I can't just pick one so I am giving my two faves:
Decline of the Western Civilization (NOT the metal years one though... the shining star is the punk one... ahh the good ole days)
and
X:The Unheard Music
By and far my two favorite music documentaries.
Okay... so Seattle has this sweet ass festival of music and artsy fartsy stuff called, Bumbershoot. Ras has been bemoaning wanting to see more live bands and stuff, so after listening to all the lineups and artist interviews this past week on my fave radio station KEXP it was decided that I would sit down and view the lineups.
So I am perusing the various days trying to figure out which day will be the bestest of the best day. I mean everyday they have amazing bands playing ALL DAY LONG. How it works is, you pay for one ticket and you can freely roam about Seattle Center, which will be dotted with tons of stages that will host all kinds of music, comedy and performance art. So you can listen to one song and move along or stay and listen to an entire set. It's sooo freakin' cool!
I try to hit Bumbershoot every year. But I've missed it for two consecutive years and it killed me. Not this year though because on Saturday Blondie is playing on the main stage... and dammit I'm excited! Yeah, yeah... she's an old timer, but she is still rockin' and I've always liked her.
We picked out a loose schedule of a couple other bands we want to see like The Purrs and Rogue Wave, plus we are going to see a performance art movie thingy (hard to describe it really) called the Seattle Neutrino Project. It's a group of performance artists who live action edit a film while you watch... I know sounds lame the way I put it, but I've heard from numerous people that it is captivating and exciting. Plus each performance is unique... you'll never see the same show twice. Wooo!
Anyway... I had to gush :)
Ras and I just got tickets to the Rolling Stones!!! Wooooooo!
I'm so excited I just had to share. We ended up with SWEEEEET tickets too! On the floor, center stage!!!
I feel like I am gonna burst! I soooo can not wait until October 17th!
